a single seagull soars aloft, the sky
her sanctuary
sole silhouette in Sol's ascent
through this kingdom light and airy
she wings on high winsome in youth
with a certain seabird flair
alternating arcs and angles over empty ocean air
strings of stratus circulating as she glides
above the sun
lend a slight tint to her feathers
in the space she shares with none
against the fullness of the nimbus
who with daybreak nestle soft
while cirrus streamers sweep low seaward
cumulus clouds so coil aloft
